Volunteer Pool Coordinator - Emily Sun

 

 

Emily (Yanxia) Sun is our Volunteer Pool Coordinator Committee Chair and works with the VP of Comminication.  After she earned her undergraduate engineering degree from China, she came to US and pursued her dual master degrees at MIT.  She then started a career in the engineering field. Her daughter, Chloe is an IA freshman. She enjoys cooking, yoga and travel. She is honored to be part of the IA PTSO team and will absolutely do her best.

 

Webmaster - Soumya Bhaaradwaj

 

 

Soumya Bhaaradwaj is our Webmaster Committee Chair for the PTSO page, and works with the VP of Communication. She has a M.S. in Electrical and Computer Science Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangalore, India. She has a strong technical background and has a diversified skill set covering Data, Application and IT support. Soumya loves volunteering in her free time and has volunteered in multiple organizations over the years in Event management and Fundraising as a committee member. She is very excited to be part of the founding team of IA's PTSO.

 

 

External School Media - Tammy Thomas

 

 

Tammy Thomas is our External School Media Committee Chair and works with the VP of Communications for the PTSO.  She has a Bachelors of Science in Management from Georgia Tech and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner.  After starting her career in auditing, Tammy focused her career in the area of forensic accounting and currently works as a damages expert and forensic accountant.  Her daughter is a freshman at IA. Tammy is excited to work with this amazing team of parent volunteers.

 

School Media - Kira Milford

 

Kira Milford is our School Media Committee Chair, and works with the VP of Communication. 

 

Spirit Wear - Cristela Miskovic

 

 

Cristela Miskovic - is our Spirit Wear Committee Chair and works with the VP of Ways and Means. She has a degree in travel and tourism from Robert Morris College in Chicago, Illinois. After college she worked in the reservations department for Delta Airlines. She had a need for customer interaction and moved on to American Express Corporate Travel. After a few years of experience she found her career as a meeting planner for Pontarelli Companies in Chicago. She moved to Johns Creek about 7 years ago and devoted her life to her family. She is a proud mother of four., two of which are older and two are school aged. Her  daughter Peyton attends IA as a freshman and Alexa is a junior at JCHS. She loves working with the community and volunteered her time on the Dolvin PTA as VP of Academic Enrichment for 2 years. She also supported the PTA at Autrey Mill Middle School in leading and planning their school dances. At the same time she held a position on Jr. Gladiators middle school cheer board, and  subsequently became President. She is looking forward to contributing her  professional skills and providing assistance to IA’s PTSO this year.

 

 

Fundraising - Olivia Seymour

 

 

Olivia Seymore is the chair of our Passive Fundraising Committee and works with the VP of Ways and Means. She attended Clark Atlanta University where she received her Marketing degree. For over 18 years, Olivia has been a noteworthy leader in the industries of marketing and entertainment. Olivia is also a respected community advocate who can be credited with multiple contributions and acts of service on the boards for The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. – MECCA Chapter, K-Piano Music Academy, as well as the Project XL Readiness Program. She has also contributed her time to other organizations of impact, including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Kidney Foundation, Hosea Helps, Sisters of Today and Tomorrow, Clark Atlanta University Alumni Association, and many more. She is currently the founder and CEO of See More to Life Foundation, Inc., where she plays a major role in ensuring that youth in underserved communities get the exposure and resources that they need to transition into college and the workforce. Through her commitment to this role, Olivia helps teenagers explore their options for personal and professional interests, while teaching them about leadership and life skills.

 

Teacher & Staff Appreciation - Mini Lala

 

Mini Lala is our Teacher & Staff Appreciation Committee Chair and works with our VP of School Support.

 

Teacher Grants - Rose-Anne Schmidt

 

 

Rose-Anne Schmidt is our Teacher Grants Committee Chair and works with our VP of School Support. She has a degree in architecture from the University of Virginia and a law degree from Fordham University. She worked in the legal field for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom to her four children, ages 3, 9, 11, and 14. Currently she stays busy by volunteering regularly at food pantries and with other community service projects. She also met a big life goal this year and became a certified SCUBA diver!

STEM Professional Volunteer -  Kashmira Date

 

Kashmira Date is our STEM Professional Volunteer Committee Chair and works with our VP of Community Relations.

Parent Events - Verna Kimura

 

Verna Kimura is our Parent Events Committee Co-Chair and works with our VP of Community Relations. 

She relocated from Tokyo, Japan after spending 25 years there as an International Educator at St. Mary’s International Preparatory School for Boys as an administrator, teacher trainer and curriculum developer. Verna was Co-founder of a Corporate Communication Boutique in Tokyo. Her accounts included Tokyo Disneyland, P&G with Leo Burnett Kyodo, Sumitomo. She holds a Masters Degree from Catholic University, Washington, D.C. and Certificate in Communications from Boston University. Former Director of Public Relations and Marketing for Georgetown University Law Center, she is skilled in events planning and seminar presentations. At IA, she aspires to foster an interactive and enthusiastically creative environment inclusive of a diversified group of parents whose ideas are welcomed wholeheartedly and respected. She maintains that curiosity, humor, the ability to laugh at oneself and food from all different cultures are a solid recipe for inspiration and success.

Haomin Wang is our Academic Support Committee Chair and works with our VP of Student Support.

 

Cultural Arts - Emily Sheehy


 

Emily Sheehy is our Cultural Arts Committee Chair and works with our VP of Student Support. Cultural arts is pretty much Emily’s life! She’s a graduate of UGA, a creative director and the owner of a production company. She grew up immersed in the arts, as a classical violinist and illustrator. Her son, Donovan will be a 9th grader at IA. He is also a musician (classical piano and violin) and a car enthusiast. He will miss orchestra but is so excited to follow his passion in the engineering pathway. Emily believes that STEM, the arts, and visual creativity go hand in hand. If you have ideas on how to introduce cultural arts to our students, Emily would love to hear from you!

 

 

 

College & Career Center - Becky Waple

 

Becky Waple is our College & Career Center Committee Co-Chair and works with our VP of Senior Support

 

Scholarships - Zhou Yang

 

 

Zhou Yang is our Scholarships Committee Chair and works with our VP of Senior Support. Zhou Yang, Ph.D., MPH, is the Principal Health economist of Omada Health, the leading digital health startup in the US. Dr. Yang immigrated from China to the US in 1997, obtained her graduate degrees from UCLA and UNC Chapel Hill, have worked in academia, the World Bank Group, and the American Board of Family Medicine. Her son, Abraham Li, is in the class of 2025. Dr. Yang enjoys long distance running and vacation at Santa Rosa Beach in Florida. Besides IA PTSO, she also serves as the Vice President of Philanthropy of the North Fulton Chapter of Young Men’s Service League.
